ProTip Wednesday: 5 Ways for Teachers to De-Stress at Your Desk

1. Time out for teachers

It’s not just for kindergarteners. Intuit says that putting your head down and giving yourself a “time out” is a type of yoga exercise to quiet your mind (and you know we need it after that class period). Simply stack arm on arm, scoot your chair out until the spine is straight, and lay your forehead on the bed of arms. Take five to eight deep breaths. (via Intuit)

2. Oh, honey

I’ve been known to keep a secret chocolate stash, but you can also keep a secret honey stash. Honey is a natural skin moisturizer, antibiotic, and brain inflammation protector. Take a spoonful of honey to calm any anxiety or stress in between classes! (via Greatist)

3. Let’s go golfing

A foot massage doesn’t need to cost an hour and $40— keep golf balls at your desk! It’s a quick and inexpensive way to massage feet that’s been running after 6 year olds all day. All you need to do is to rub your tired feet back and forth on the golf balls. (via Greatist)

4. Break out the knitting needles

Knitting is a personal favorite of mine. The stress can simply melt away when you’re remembering how to start the next row and staying in a straight line!

5. Wanderlust freely

All it takes is five minutes to open your Travel Pinterest board and see if there are any airline deals. Start planning your next big trip to get your mind off what’s bothering you and help you start becoming more excited for what’s next. (via Greatist)
